Initial study of the 2 mutated gaunts species of Hivefleet Bahamut recovered from the battlefield commenced at 18:34 Standard. The first seem to be similar to Hivefleet Behemoth's Hormagaunts although there are noticable differences between the two. Dubbed "Clostridiogaunts", the presence of toxin sacs in the alien's mandibles enable it to lace it's talons with potent poisons as to kill an unprotected human in minutes. Adrenal glands commonly situated at the creature's dorsal area is found near the posterior end in this specie.

These creatures are very lethal in close combat and prefer tro attack in swarms of about 8 to 16 individuals (speculated as a whole brood, but more are to be expected). Their attack modus include springing unto their enemies using their inhuman leaping abilty and slashing relentlessly with thier poisoned talons. Swarms encountered by Blood Angels assigned in this sector were succesful in cleansing the threath but not without suffering considerable losses.

A swarm of this specie usually is accompanied by a lesser conduit of the hive mind known as a hive node. These mutants function like lesser synapse creatures, so even though their Warrior leaders are disposed of, the swarm continue to fight ceaselessly instead of reverting to their primal instincts...

Dissection will resume in an hour after a suitable replacement for Apprenti Leviis assigned. He was unfortunately slashed across the waist by a dead specimen's talons, by action of the creature's involuntary muscle movement.
